Callsign “Tamada”

“Callsign ‘Tamada'” is a military tragicomedy about a cheerful and carefree event host who becomes a volunteer in the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the start of the full-scale invasion.

The main character of the series is Artem Didiv, an almost forty-year-old wedding host, a joker and the life of the party. He lives a cheerful, carefree life, interrupting with odd jobs. Before the war, he loses everything – his bride leaves him, and then he is left without work. On the eve of the invasion, Artem gets drunk and wakes up in the morning from explosions and a terrible hangover.

Confused and devastated, Artem realizes that the unexpected war becomes a new starting point for him – a moment from which he can start rebuilding himself. Already in the training unit, he is given the call sign “Tamada”, at first as a mockery, but later in this call sign in the speech of his brothers in arms, more and more real respect becomes. “Tamada” is not one of those who are born to be a hero, but is forced to become one, although he treats this with a smile and humor.
